There never seems to be enough time to work, take care of my dog, spend time with family and friends, take care of my apartment, plan things for my new house, handle treasurer activities for my EGA chapter, work on my embroidery, and then blog about my embroidery. Sigh. It's been a lot lately.
But I have been working on my phase 3 Japanese embroidery piece, and soon I'll have another update for you about that. For the moment, though, I just have a quick update about my phase 2 piece: Silver Fan (originally called Golden Fan by the JEC).
I finished this piece in June of 2021 and took it to The Attic Needlework to be framed. Unfortunately, supply chain issues meant that my chosen frame could not be attained — for months and months. Finally, in February, I decided it wasn't worth the wait anymore and met with Sandy again to choose a new frame.
My original frame was a dark cherry wood, but this time I went with a more modern, sleek, silver frame. It took about five weeks after I chose the new frame, but at last, I got the finished piece back:
And I love it. I'm actually really glad the first frame I chose didn't work out because I can't imagine anything setting off this piece more beautifully than this silver frame. The silver and turquoise frame and matting really make the colors pop. This is my favorite piece that I've ever stitched, and I'm so happy with how it turned out. As usual, Sandy did a beautiful job, and the supply chain issues worked out for the best in the end.
But I'm so happy to finally have this hanging on my wall where I can see it every day. It was worth the wait to have it looking so beautifully finished, but nine months apart from it was too long! 😂
