I have always greatly admired ribbon embroidery. It makes such realistic, three-dimensional flowers and is so very lovely. After seeing enough FB posts of people's beautiful work on Lorna Batemen kits, I decided to splurge and buy one for myself. It took only about 10 days to arrive from England, which isn't bad considering we're still in a pandemic. And at last, it appeared cheerfully in my mailbox this week:
It came in this nice gift bag, with a picture of the design on the front. I'll zoom in so you can see it more clearly:Isn't it a lovely, elegant little design? It makes me think of a beautiful garden tucked away in the English countryside. It feels peaceful and serene. And this happened to be a beginner kit as well, which is perfect for me since I've never so much as attempted ribbon embroidery.Inside the gift bag were all the supplies I would need to create this masterpiece myself:
The fabric, ribbons, threads, needles, and instructions were neatly packaged together. And not only that, but they actually sent extra ribbons for me to practice with first:It's really very thoughtful. Oh, and since I was paying for shipping from England, I thought I might as well throw in one extra little treat for myself:I fell in love with this adorable tape measure and ordered it with the kit. Yes, I already have a tape measure — well, like four — but none of them are as pretty as this one. And sometimes I just need pretty things in my life.I'm very excited to start the ribbon embroidery piece, but I have to finish another WIP first because I want to use the frame it's currently on — yes, I'm talking about my Jacobean piece, currently residing on my small Millennium frame. I really, really do need to get back to it. I just haven't felt motivated to work on it lately. Honestly, I haven't felt motivated to work on much this week, but then I've been a little under the weather. And sometimes motivation just disappears regardless. But I'm sure the mood will strike again. And when it does, I'll have my ribbon embroidery to look forward to!
