I got my landscape embroidery of the ski slope at Stowe, VT, back from the framer's today — just in time to send it to my sister-in-law Antoniya for Christmas! This was the piece after I mounted it, in case you missed it:
I chose grey and blue mats and a simple, slightly shimmery dark blue frame to complement the colors in the piece. Here's a close-up of the frame and mats:Sandy at The Attic Needlework framed this one for me and, as always, she did a beautiful job! I think the frame really makes the embroidery pop. Here's the finished piece:I shipped it Priority Mail this afternoon; the receipt said it would arrive December 21, but USPS said that realistically it would take about a week. But that's perfect because Antoniya and my brother Chris will be gone for a week — skiing at Stowe as a matter of fact. So apropos!I called to let her know her present was on the way and told her if she didn't like it, she could ship it back to me and I'd buy her something else. I said I wouldn't even be offended — like at all. (I really want to keep it, even more now that I've seen it framed, lolz). But she said she was sure she would love it and asked what kind of jerk would send a gift back and be like "Nope! Try again!" So there goes my hope of getting this one back to keep. 😂 But hopefully she will really enjoy it, and it will make the sacrifice all worth it (or mostly worth it).
