Phase 2: Cords, Cords, and More Cords

These cords are never ending. I've been working on them steadily, and they're still not done. But I do have some more progress to show you.

I decided to work on the background cords at the top of the fan before moving on to the bottom cords so that I could see how my chosen colors would look side by side. First up, I did the very top background cord in #1 silver metallic thread, using diagonal layer and transitioning into my blueish-silver silk thread:

I used a quick transition this time because the silvers are pretty close in color. (For more about quick and slow transitions, see this post, about 4/5 of the way down.) I really like how this one turned out, and I think it looks great next to the purple.

Next, I moved on to the background cord to the lower left and started with the same blueish-silver silk before transitioning into the darker silvery-blue silk:

I used a slow transition this time since the colors were a bit more distinct. Unfortunately, I couldn't get the light quite right when I was taking this photo, and although you can see the transition, the darker color is much more blue IRL than it appears here. All the colors are a little off in the photo, but oh well.

I then moved on to the background cord over to the right side of the fan and stitched this one in the light purple silk:

The colors are a little more true in this photograph, and I really like the soft silvery-blue with the lavender. But I wasn't happy with the far right curve of the lavender cord. It's too lumpy and wide at some points. So I took out nearly half of that section and redid it:

The curve was much better and more even the second time around. I am satisfied. 😂

And here's the whole fan so far:

It's starting to come together. You can see the gentle transitions in this larger photo a little better, and I like how they're working so far. I have just started the bottom foreground cord, but there's still probably 10-12 hours worth of work on these two bottom cords.
